How to Play Plinko X by Smartsoft Gaming

Plinko X is an instant-win arcade game developed by Smartsoft Gaming, a Tbilisi-based studio licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA/B2B/389/2017) and certified for fairness by independent labs iTech Labs and eCOGRA. The game was launched in July 2022 and is available at licensed South African platforms.

The concept is borrowed from the classic TV game show format: a ball drops from the top of a fixed 16-row pegboard, bouncing off pins on the way down before landing in one of the multiplier pockets at the bottom.

The central pockets pay the least — as low as x0.2 of your stake — while the outer edge pockets pay up to x1,000. What makes Plinko X distinct from other Plinko variants is its three ball types, drawn at random from a spinning wheel at the top of the board: a pink ball carries a x1 multiplier on its own value, a yellow ball applies a x5 multiplier to wherever it lands, and a red ball applies a x10 multiplier — meaning a red ball landing in the x1,000 pocket pays x10,000 your stake.

The published RTP is 97%, as displayed in the in-game rules panel, with a maximum cash win capped at R1,000,000 (operator-dependent). Minimum bet on South African platforms starts at 20c per ball, up to R100.

To play, set your stake using the +/− buttons, then press Place Bet to drop a single ball. The ball colour is assigned randomly by the wheel — you do not choose it. For faster play, the Turbo Mode doubles drop speed, allowing approximately 200 drops per minute.

Autoplay lets you pre-set between 50 and 10,000 automatic drops, with optional stop conditions such as a balance increase or decrease by a set amount. All results are generated by a certified RNG — the ball path appears physical but is mathematically determined before the drop. No skill, timing or pattern influences where the ball lands.

FAQ

Can I choose which colour ball drops in Plinko X?

No. The ball colour — pink, yellow or red — is randomly selected by the spinning wheel at the top of the board each time you press Place Bet. You cannot influence or predict it. Red balls, which carry the highest x10 multiplier, are the rarest. Pink balls are the most common.

What does RTP of 97% mean in practice?

RTP (Return to Player) is a long-run statistical average across millions of rounds. A 97% RTP means that for every R100 collectively wagered, R97 is returned to players over time. It does not predict your result in any individual session — short sessions can produce outcomes significantly above or below this figure. The 97% figure for Plinko X is published inside the game's help panel and is independently certified.

Is the ball path random or can it be influenced by timing?

The outcome is determined by a certified RNG before the ball is released. The visual bouncing path is a simulation — pressing the button earlier or later, or using Turbo Mode versus standard speed, has no effect on where the ball lands. Each drop is an independent event.

What is the difference between Plinko X and other Plinko games?

Unlike Spribe's Plinko or BGaming's version, Plinko X uses a fixed 16-row board — you cannot adjust the number of rows or manually select a risk level. The unique feature is the three ball types (pink, yellow, red) which act as randomised multipliers on top of the pocket value, enabling maximum wins of x10,000. Most other Plinko variants offer adjustable rows and risk settings but no ball multiplier system.

Is Plinko X available in demo mode?

Yes. Most South African online casinos that host Plinko X offer a free demo mode accessible without registration. In demo mode all mechanics, ball physics and payout tables are identical to the real-money version — winnings are credited in virtual currency only and cannot be withdrawn. Smartsoft Gaming confirms that the demo RTP settings mirror the live game.
